Today is my birthday. I felt this would be the most appropriate date on which to launch a blog that will essentially function as an informal stream of consciousness. Expect to find musings on men’s style, marketing, branding, design whatever is on my mind, along with a dash of irreverent wit thrown in for good measure.
Anyway, my birthday falls on a rather problematic day; Christmas Eve. Celebrating with friends of the Christian faith can be a complicated exercise (usually in futility), not to mention the task of locating a quality establishment at which to hold said celebration.
This year, I decided to have an informal dinnerĀ at Sakagura with a few close friends 2 weeks prior to my actual birthday. This proved to be an incredibly successful solution to my annual conundrum, as a good time was had by all.
Upon receiving my chocolate souffle with vanilla iced cream and raspberry sauce shooter dessert, the waitress appeared with a Polaroid camera and caught me in a pose straight out of 1987, wondering, “Where’s the check?”

New Year's Eve 1987: Where's the check?
Where’s the check indeed. The dinner was followed by aggressive cocktails at the always enjoyable Flatiron Lounge. I’ll review both of these establishments in a later post.
